GOLD BEACH FOOTBALL CAMP 09
43 members of the Lava Bear Varsity Football Team attended the 2009 Gold Beach Football Camp in Gold Beach, Oregon. For the culminating camp activity, the Lava Bears were selected to compete in the "Elite" featured game of the "Scrimmage-a-thon" against Centennial High of Boise, Idaho. During the 25 min running time period, Bend shined, both offensively and defensively, and shut down Centennial 24-6. At the evening camp awards assembly, our team efforts were noted. The Lava Bears won the "Lineman Challenge" as well as the "7-on-7" passing tournament. Jared Heal won the small lineman squat @ 420 lbs. It should also be noted that Gold Beach Camp officials selected Kenny Norgaard (ILB,FB) and Liam Brown (OL, DL) to the "All-Camp" team. The Lava Bears would like to give a special thanks to Ryan Longwell of the Minnesota Vikings for his generous donation towards our team bus for the camp. Once a Lava Bear always a Lava Bear, Thanks Ryan!
